The 24th Annual ART Waikino Exhibition is the perfect opportunity for artists wanting a platform to showcase their work and gain recognition. Held over Labour Weekend from Friday, 25 October to Sunday, 27 October at the historic Waikino Victoria Hall on SH2, this year’s exhibition promises to be a highlight on the regional arts calendar. The event will be open daily from 10am to 4pm, with a special launch and prize-giving ceremony on Thursday, 24 October at 6pm. Tickets for the launch event are $15, and exhibiting artists can attend for free.
Since its inception by the community in 2000, ART Waikino has become a beloved annual event, attracting art lovers and buyers eager to discover and purchase original, affordable art. Each art entry costs $15, with a maximum of three entries per artist, offering excellent exposure for artists of all levels.
The ART Waikino Committee is excited to announce prizes in five categories this year: painting, photography, sculpture, craft, and the newly introduced mixed media. First prizes range up to $750 for painting, with additional awards for Young Star, People's Choice, Radical Reuse, Artist's Raffle, and Highly Commended.
Participating in ART Waikino offers numerous benefits for artists. It provides a platform to display their work to a wide audience, including potential buyers, art enthusiasts, and fellow artists. This exposure can lead to sales, commissions, and valuable networking opportunities within the arts community. Additionally, ART Waikino contributes to the vibrant arts scene in the Coromandel and Hauraki districts. The exhibition plays a crucial role in raising funds for the maintenance of the Waikino Victoria Hall, ensuring this historic venue remains a hub for the community.
Don’t miss this chance to share your creative talents with a wider audience and be part of a vibrant community of artists. Submit your entries and join us in celebrating the artistic spirit at ART Waikino 2024! Entries close 11 October.
